I am Jayne, an Integrative Counsellor and the founder of Healing Space Counselling. For data protection purposes, I am the person responsible for looking after your information (known legally as the ‘Data Controller’).

I collect the following information types of data:

  • Personal & Contact Details: Name, date of birth, gender, address, email, and phone number.

  • Emergency Contact: The name and number of a trusted person.

  • Sensitive Data: Brief session notes, GP details, and relevant medical history.

  • Website Data: Information from my contact form and "cookies" to improve your browsing experience.

3. How & Why I Use It

I only use your data to deliver safe, professional therapy. Under GDPR, the legal bases for this is through our therapy agreement

4. Confidentiality & Sharing

Your privacy is my priority. I will never sell your data or use it for marketing. I only share information in these rare circumstances:

  • Clinical Supervision: Discussing my work with a qualified supervisor (your identity is always protected).

  • Risk of Harm: If I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm.

  • Legal Obligation: If required by a court of law, or by law regarding terrorism or money laundering.

  • Clinical Will: If I am suddenly incapacitated or pass away, a professional executor would access your details to inform you.

5. How I Store Your Data

  • Digital Records: Kept on password-protected, encrypted devices.

  • Paper Records: Minimal handwritten notes are kept in a locked filing cabinet.

  • Retention: Records are kept securely for 7 years after therapy ends. For minors, they are kept until 7 years after their 18th birthday, then securely destroyed.

6. Your Rights

Your data belongs to you. You have the right to see it, correct mistakes, or ask me to delete it (subject to legal and insurance requirements).
